Latest CD News - I've just completed a full length CD produced by Russ Fowler and myself that I am very excited about. I had worked with Russ before, years ago, and it was great to get back into the studio with him. Russ was recently involved in engineering the latest Stone Temple Pilots as well as Rage Against the Machine. For this project I was able to snag most of my favorite players. Newcomer Tim Porterfield, who I just met last year, accompanies me on every song as acoustic guitarist and background vocalist. Tim and I logged in a lot of hours prior to recording, working out parts and I think it really shows. Vocally Tim and I have a real natural blend and his guitar work is first rate too. Thanks Tim!

In the electric guitar department, my friend Peter Stroud was kind enough to lend his talents for a few sessions. Working with Peter is always a thrill. The guy sounds good! What a time he's having as Sheryl Crow's lead guitarist. A high point for me was watching Sheryl's Central Park concert with Peter backing up Sheryl, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Chrissie Hynde, or more recently Sheryl's performance at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Salt Lake City. Go Peter!

On keyboards I've got the best, Tom Grose. Tom plays some classic B3, Wurlitzer, and acoustic piano on my CD. My producer, Russ, plays some cool keyboards as well.

Local legend Ricky Keller plays all the bass tracks on the record (I know it's a CD, I like calling 'em records). Ricky's musical instincts are always "on the money".

I was lucky enough to grab one of my favorite drummers, Tom Knight, who also worked on my 1997 EP, for this project as well. We cut all the drum tracks in three days and then Tom was off on tour with TLC. Tom is the master of making sense of my odd meters and dropped beats and is a lot of fun to work with. Tom, I can't wait till the next record. - Pat

April 15, 2001 - I thought I'd go back through my archives and pull a few songs from the distant past and plop'em on MP3. "Awhile To Mend" and "Winding Down" are both from my 1989 LP "Pennies". I don't perform any of these songs anymore and the LP is out of print... but maybe a few cuts have the right to live! The "Pennies" sessions were a lot of fun 'cause a few of my famous friends came down to help out. First and foremost... drummer extrodinare Rob Morgenstein (The Dregs) is joined by fellow Steve Morse Band alumni Jerry Peek on bass. That team is hard to beat. Pat Buchanan (Cyndi Lauper, Marshall Crenshaw) covers most of the electric guitar parts. The super talented Randy Hoexter is on harmonium. Bill Hatcher stacks up the big bed of acoustics. As Mark Twain once said, "If you like that sort of thing, it is the sort of thing that you will like."
